It’s been 3 weeks since egg retrieval day.
We were so happy to hear 12 eggs we retrieved….
And the week after that were told only 4 of 12 passed embryological scoring and matured.
Going through ups and downs emotion is no different from mood swing for us. We have been staying positive and enjoying our busy life with Mona Vie ☺️
A few days after that, the embryologist called with good news. “Another egg decided to slowly matured…” We both were in AWE and couldn’t believe this could happen. We asked the embryologist to keep track of the 5th embryo, just in case embryo #5 made it through so that we would have better ideas for his/her name 😭
Continuing to recover and meds 💊
Moni continued to recover from all hormone injections and started to go back to her gym to get her strength back. Going back to the gym was tough for the first few days because whenever the workout focused on abdominal muscles Moni would have to just find an alternative or rest on the floor. But it all got better within just a few days. Moni’ health is back to normal.
On Moni’s 3rd day of period, Moni began taking birth control. Birth control medications decrease the chances of creating cysts that could interfere with the cycle start. They also allow the doctor to control the timing of the cycle. Moni will continue to take birth control until further instruction from the doctor.
PGT Test results are back!
First, let’s understand what PGT is.
Pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT) is a procedure performed in the laboratory during an IVF cycle in order to detect abnormalities in the chromosomes of the embryos or to test the embryo before it implants for a specific, known genetic disorder, usually caused by a single gene abnormality. Furthermore, gender can also be discovered through PGT procedure.
On Tuesday (11/02), we received a phone call from our nurse with PGT results.
✨3 out of 5 embryos came back healthy and good to go for transferring. Yeah!!!!🎉
This means we have the opportunity to have 3 transfers! The nurse asked if we wanted to know the gender. We both agreed to hold off on knowing the gender because we want to continue with unbiased thought process and decisions. But seriously, we want to know very badly…😂
What now? 🧐
Next week we will have a meeting with the embryologist and our doctor to go over next steps. The embryologist will have further information for us about each of the 3 embryos, such as their appearance and grading scales to hopefully indicate which one has the best chance for success.
We had been waiting with anticipation these past couple weeks to find out these test results. And now we’re excited to speak with our doctor soon to discuss the next options for us!
