Surprise Procedure & Embryo Selection

A month after egg retrieval procedure, we went to our doctor’s appointment together thinking it was just going to be a normal visit, including labs and ultrasound. But…

Sonohysterogram…and more 😢

The nurse walked us to an ultrasound room and we saw more like surgical equipments on the tray…We thought it was for somebody else 😂

Our doctor walked in and told us that we are going to perform a Sonohysterogram procedure today. 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 We both were not expecting and had no idea what that was. Our doctor was so great at detecting our clueless faces and started easing us into the procedure.

So let’s talk about what Sonohysterography is🤨

It is a kind of ultrasound exam. Fluid is put into the uterus through the cervix using a thin plastic tube. Sound waves are then used to create images of the lining of the uterus. The fluid helps show more detail than when ultrasound is used alone.

Sonohysterography can find the underlying cause of many problems, including the following:

  • Abnormal growths inside the uterus, such as fibroids or polyps, and information about their size and depth

  • Scar tissue inside the uterus

  • Abnormal uterine shape

  • Problems with the lining of the uterus

  • Whether the fallopian tubes are open or blocked

It wasn’t pleasant…When Moni is in pain, she‘s awfully QUIET, TENSED and sometimes forget to breath. Michael was trying to soothe Moni by being by Moni’s side and gently tapping her shoulders from time to time. In the end, the doctor was pleased that the uterus looks clear, smooth and no obstructions. The doctor also removed the stitch from the egg retrieval procedure.

Moni has been experiencing awful cramping and light bleeding since then. We will be taking care of each other for the next few days ❤️

More meds and injections

Moni will stop taking birth control pills on Saturday (11/13)…and will begin her pre-embryo transfer meds on the 16th.

“This is a LONG list of medications.” With multiple blood work & ultrasound. Our doctor and nurse gave us the plan for the month leading up to tentative transfer date.

Speaking of gender 👧🏻👦👦🏻👧

The genetic testing for the embryos indicated that we have 3 suitable embryos that can be transferred.

At our appointment, our nurse gave us the PGT result which includes a grading scale of embryos.

Embryo 1 is “3AA”

Embryo 2 is “4AA” (scored highest)

Embryo 3 is “4BB”

It has been our desire to transfer the healthiest embryo with the highest chance of success regardless of what the gender is. In that case, the nurse told us that 4AA scored the highest and we now know the gender ❤️

We are very happy and looking forward to transfer date being finalized. We will continue to update on medicines, side effects and whatever we come across...😂 We are basically clueless for what comes next!
